3 wins out of 3 series Sirius into round 3!

[12 Oct 2016]

The doubters always say ‘can they do it on a cold, wet Tuesday night?’ Well the year 7 football team proved to them that we can!

Following a massive 11-2 victory away at Hornsea in the first round, the year 7 team faced south Holderness at home in some horrendous wet conditions!

The game started late due to the away team travel struggling to get up to the sports hall, just like their strike force struggled to get into our box! The Sirius team dominated the game from start to finish with captain and MOTM Callum Hawkins pulling the strings in CM!

The south Holderness team set up camp in their own box well but the Sirius strike force blew it down when Lewis Wilkins managed to slip through the defence and slide the ball past the resurgent keeper. Chance after chance came and the game could have been into the double figures if it wasn’t for the away Keeper. However, Sirius managed to knock down the South Holderness back line with 3 goals in 5 minutes before HT. A brilliant Callum Hawkins double from long range was topped off with a excellent calm composed finish by jack silvestre to make it 4-0.

With the strong lead, the Sirius team were allowed to rest some key players for next week. Unfortunately the away team took advantage of some lack of concentration to pull 1 goal back…but it was to be their only one! Following a silvestre and Wilkins hat-rick in the last game, Callum Hawkins wanted in on the action and managed to beat the South Holderness keeper in the top of the net! The game ended 5-1 with the team comfortably in the  3rd round  of the national cup and opponents due to be drawn next Monday.

Special mention to the defence of Ethan Appleby, Lennie Ellis, Sam Hassard and Billy Mountain who were solid at the back and never gave the away team a real chance of getting back into the game.

Please congratulate the following players on their performance, result and attitude throughout.

Ethan Appleby, Sam Hassard, Billy Mountain, Lennie Ellis, Bailey Jennison, Callum Hawkins, Mason Chaffer, Lewis Wilkins, Jack Silvestre, Taesion Havel, Alfie Cater-Minns, Leon Fielding and Finley McKenzie.
