“A Glittering Success, starring the students of Sirius Academy”

Hull City Hall was once again packed with over 1200 students, parents/ carers and staff for the 3rd Annual “Night of a Thousand Stars”. Dr Cathy Taylor gave an introductory welcome to all assembled and thanked parents/ carers for their support and looked forward to future successes. The awards represented the culmination of a lot of hard work and effort from every curriculum area as well as the sporting successes achieved during the academic year 2012/2013. Over 480 awards were presented by our Guest of Honour – Mr Lee Probert Chair of the Board of Directors of Sirius Academy who highlighted the journey that the Academy had travelled since its beginning moving it to good and outstanding. In addition to the awards presented by the Academy, Mr Steve Clarke as Chair of the Old Kingstonians presented a cup and the first award from the Old Kingstonians for “Academic Excellence”. The awards were interspersed with some fabulous student performances by The Vocal Group who performed “Make it Shine” by Victoria Justice, the Ella Henderson arrangement of “Believe” sung by Emily Ollsen, a Year 10 Contemporary Dance Performance of “Impossible” by James Arthur, two excerpts by drama students from “The Mobile Phone Show” as part of their National Theatre Festival success earlier in the year and James Everett singing “It’s a Beautiful Day” by Michael Buble. All the performances were outstanding and contributed to the atmosphere of achievement and excellence underlining the fact that all students at Sirius Academy really do have the potential and opportunity to “Shine”.
