GREAT START FOR THE YEAR 7 NETBALL TEAM
Please congratulate the Year 7 Netball team on their fantastic first performance last night.
In their first ever match together the inexperienced, but yet talented team took on Malet Lambert A team. Despite great efforts to get the ball into the goal third from centre Alix Butler, the girls were struggling to convert goals in the first game, causing them a 3-1 defeat to Malet.
However, the girls soon got into the flow of things and were quickly becoming stronger and stronger. Cameron Shakespeare, Ellie Hincliffe and Alicia Pearson making it near on impossible for the other teams to get the ball in to the defensive third and super shooters, Isla Elgie and Charlotte Wilkinson virtually never missing a shot.
The next few games saw the girls’ beating Newland 1-0, Andrew Marvell 1-0, St Marys B 6-0, Kelvin 2-0, Malet B 5-0 and then drawing with St Marys A, their strongest competition of the night 3-3.
A superb effort from all of the girls: Alix Butler, Charlotte Wilkinson, Alicia Pearson, Camron Shakespeare, Katie Haywood, Keila Allen, Ellie Hincliffe, Hollie Biggadike, Niamh Moffet, Elizabeth Collier, Caitlin McDonnah, Mercedes Smart, Megan Gelson, Teri Sainty, Grace Pougher and Kira Haywood.
