G&T Maths and English Visits
This week the academy hosted the first stage of our Maths and English G&T Programme with eight of our local Primary Schools. Over 120 pupils from Christopher Pickering, Rokeby, Ainthorpe, Wold, Paisley, Chiltern, Francis Askew and Anlaby Acre Heads had the opportunity to work with subject specialists in Maths and English to develop key skills in preparation for their forthcoming SATS. The same pupils will be invited to similar sessions in March and April to explore additional content prior to May.
The attitude and conduct of the pupils throughout was exemplary. Well done! In the morning the pupils worked on inference and writing analytical statements based on Miss Haversham and Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations. In the afternoon pupils worked as teams to solve puzzles based on decimals, fractions and percentages with the help of our Year 10 host Josh Abbott.
