Physicist of the Year award
On Monday evening Josh Broadly, one of our year 12 physicists, was awarded our Physicist of the Year award from the Ogden Trust at a celebration event held at the University of York. The Ogden Trust was set up “To encourage and promote the teaching and learning of physics through the sponsorship of: talented students studying physics at sixth form and undergraduate level; undergraduate and postgraduate students who wish to become physics teachers; programmes and projects supporting physical science teaching in primary and secondary schools.”
Josh was nominated because of his aptitude for the subject and the transformation he has made since last year in his commitment to learning. The award was accompanied by vouchers, and the opportunity to attend an A2 physics symposium. Even more importantly, Josh is now an Ogden Scholar and is eligible to apply for the Ogden Trust Undergraduate Science Scholarship worth £1500 per year during his under graduate course.
Josh was accompanied by his family and his Physics teacher, Mr Fletcher. They attended a lecture about the future of fusion, and took park in many hands on activities provided by under- and post graduate students at the University.
Our congratulations go to Josh.
