Sky Sports living for Sport – Leadership Academy Launch

[03 Jun 2015]

On Wednesday 10th June we will have a visitor in school called Ben Pipes. He was the GB captain for the volleyball team at the London Olympics and is also an Athlete Mentor for Sky Sports Living for Sport program, a scheme we have now signed up for.

During the morning, Ben will be working with a select group of 20 year 8/9 students who we have selected to form our Leadership Academy in PE. They will spend some time in a classroom going through Ben’s story and also down in the Sports hall doing some practical work based around leadership and leadership qualities. From this day, we will be looking to involve the students in leadership roles in PE through primary events as well as events at the Academy as well. It is a great opportunity for the students and so I hope you are able to assist in allowing the students to be off timetable for the day to take part in this.

As an addition, we will also be inviting some other students to come down for a volleyball session during period 4 with Ben. A list of the invited students for this part of the day will be sent out asap.

The students involved for the full day are as follows. The majority of the students have now been spoken to, and if any alterations happen then I will let you know before the end of the week.
