Students attend Hull Philharmonic Orchestra Concert 29/11/14

[04 Dec 2014]

On Saturday 29th November 2014, the Hull Philharmonic Orchestra performed the first of three commemorative Concerts where the Orchestra examined the musical landscape of 1914; the early work of George Butterworth, The Lark Ascending and the Second Symphony by Ralph Vaughan Williams, alongside the Forgotten Voices of people recorded at the time, read by Hull actors John, Jan and Martha Godber.

Out of a possible 50 available tickets which were distributed to students across all age groups, 48 students took the opportunity to attend the concert, unsupervised and, it being their first experience of this type of event for most.

As their music teacher, I am extremely proud of all the students, who received many complimentary comments from both members of the orchestra and the general public.

As a result, many students have already shown great interest in attending the next two orchestral concerts in February and May 2015.
