Year 10 stroll through to the next round!

[11 Nov 2014]

First of all a massive thanks to those staff who allowed the year 10s out of their lessons period 3!

After 2 fantastic wins in the first 2 rounds against local teams, the Sirius boys faced the unknown against George Pinder from Scarborough. An early kick off meant that the team had to go easy on their lunches!

Sirius dominated the game throughout with plenty of early chances being saved by the opposing goalkeeper, who kept his team in the game. Some pre-game practicing of corners showed, with many chances being created, but for the bar and post  denying Sirius the goal they deserved. A goal line decision (without the benefit of goal line technology) sparked Sirius, who went on to find the back of the net with a fine finish by Jarvis into the bottom corner. The half time whistle blew with Sirius leading by the one goal but unfortunately not to be a few more.

A couple of changes were made at half time to push for another goal. Jude and Langley coming on in replace of Boxall and Knight.  The second half started with George Pinder creating a few early chances but for some fine goal keeping by Stephen Pougher, the score remained 1-0. Eventually after some better possession by the Sirius team, the second goal came! Litwinski showing some fine footwork in the 18 box, to keep off the defenders, fed the ball through to Jude who produced an excellent finish in the far post at a tricky angle. The second goal spurred Sirius on for more with Appleby completing a fine piece of build-up play on the left hand side to make it 3-0! Gould found himself on the score sheet after coming on for Morriss, making a run from left wing he gathered the ball to slot it  past the keeper. The game was not over yet and Litwinski completed the second half goal rush with a well-deserved goal in the last 10minutes of the game, pouncing on the loose ball in the box.

Overall it was yet another excellent performance throughout in front of an ever growing crowd! They are up against Hungerhill School from Doncaster in the 4th round at home, let us see who is more hungry for it.
