Year 7 Football boys cruise to victory!

The Sirius Academy Year 7 Football team cruised to an emphatic victory over St Marys Sports College in the Hull Schools Premier League. The boys in their 2nd match for the Academy and their 1st against Hull opposition, produced an exceptional display against talented opponents and scored some excellent goals. The team now move onto their ESFA National Cup 2nd Round match v William Farr (Lincoln).

The match started with Sirius pressing forward at every opportunity with Harry Wallis dictating play smartly passing the ball wide-out to Tyler Leighton and Jack Cutler who looked dangerous every time. At the back, captain Tom Overton was again instrumental in leading a solid back three with Josh Smith and Jack Eland cutting out every dangerous Marys attack with ease. Despite pressing the 1st goal would not come, with Harry Fenton and Alfie Sumpton looking lively, and it was Fenton who put Sirius ahead when he fired the ball into the top corner from 20 yards after a Wallis lay-off. Half-time 1-0 Sirius.

The 2nd half saw Daniel Chadwick introduced and his pace and creativity caused problems immediately. At the back Mason Palmer looked assured in goal, distributing the ball well and reading any through balls. Sirius needed a 2nd goal and it came from Sumpton who turned a goal-mouth scramble into the net. Fenton was next to score as Sirius began to press forward, before Cutler rifled the ball into the top corner with his left foot for 4-0. Sumpton latched onto a Wallis pass to make the score 5-0 with Renaldas Sokolovas and Dylan Norrie coming onto keep the pressure on the opposition. The final substitute of Jack Mortimer got straight on the score sheet racing clear and poking the ball home before Leighton finished off the scoring, racing onto a big Palmer clearance before beating the keeper for a final score of 7-0.

Special thanks to Martin Smith for his assistance with the team and Cosi Basile for driving the lads.

Please congratulate the following boys on an outstanding performance, behaviour and attitude:
