Year 7 Girls RL Hull Schools Runners Up

The Year 7 Girls played in the Hull Schools Cup Competition last night at Craven Park and finished in second place after winning two games and losing one. Sirius were without influential captain Ruby Ellis but really lifted their game in her absence as everyone worked hard to get two wins from three games.

Sirius Academy West 6 Archbishop Sentamu "B" 1

Sirius started the competition in fine form by beating the Archbishop Sentamu "B" side 6 tries to 1. Ruby Bennett was first on the scoresheet when she found a gap in the defensive line for her to step through and sprint over 50 meters for the first try of the game. The impressive Macy Mickelham was next to score before Archbishop Sentamu got one back of their own. But from then on in it was Sirius who dominated with another try from Ruby Bennett before Sienna Longley showed her strength and speed to make it 5 - 1. Macy Mickelham got her second of the game to round off the scoring in a convincing win.

Sirius Academy West 0 Archbishop Sentamu "A" 4

The big strong Archbishop Sentamu side proved too much for Sirius West in the second game as they went down 4 tries to 0. The girls worked hard to try and get a try back with strong runs from Sienna Longley, Lola Taylor and Ruby Jackson but there was no way through.

Sirius Academy West 5 Archbishop Sentamu "B" 3

As the girls tired in their final game they still managed to go over for five tries. Lola Taylor was first to go over as she proved too powerful for the Archbishop side. Macy Mickleham doubled the lead before Archbishop got one back. Ruby Bennett extended the lead as  the Sirius side looked good in attack with very few errors. Phoebe Marris was distributing the ball well from acting half back and Reeney Hatchett took some good drives forward. Archbishop had improved and got a couple of tries of their own to make it a nervous finish but Ruby Jackson and Macy Mickelham ensured that Sirius took the victory and picked up the silver medals.

Please congratulate the girls on their performance, attitude and behaviour:-

Ruby Bennett, Phoebe Marris, Sienna Longley, Ruby Jackson, Macy Mickelham, Lola Taylor, Honey Williams, Ella Langley and Reaney Hatchett.
