[16 Dec 2013]

The Sirius Academy Year 8 Rugby League team moved into the Yorkshire Cup Quarter-Finals with an emphatic 48-0 win over Ossett Academy (Wakefield). The team played some outstanding rugby against some willing opponents with the skill execution of the Sirius boys proving the difference. The team now face a crunch Quarter-Final against old rivals Brooksbank High (Calderdale), the current Yorkshire Champions and National Finalists.

Scottow was next over after good hands from Mikey Lewis and Connor Matthews. Tyler Hackett sprinted clear for the next try with Hackett goaling for 16-0. Harrison Longden, Reece Gooch and Kieran Bartlett continued to work hard in defence allowing Jack Arnett to get over next quickly followed by Scottows 2nd. Luke Moss created the next try for Gooch to give Sirius a 32-0 half-time lead.

The 2nd half saw strong performances from Jack Hassard, Harrison Bark, Lewis Harold and Matty Wilson. Tries were scored by Arnett, Mikey Lewis and Jackson’s 2nd to give Sirius their victory.

Special thanks to Rachel Gay for her assistance with the team and Cosi Basile for dropping the team off.
