Year 9 Rugby team ease into Round 2 of Yorkshire Cup!

[28 Nov 2013]

The Sirius Academy Year 9 Rugby League team eased into Round 2 of the Champion Schools Yorkshire Cup with a 68-0 victory over Immanuel School (Bradford). The visitors deserve huge credit for travelling and never giving up however the skill and knowledge of the Sirius boys proved too much for them from the start. The team move into Round 2 of the competition that they are the current Champions in and now know that the level of opposition will increase. Next opponents for the boys will be North Halifax (Calderdale).

Tries were scored at regular intervals throughout the match. Forwards Brad Elliott, Kai Thorpe, George Tyson-Wilson broke the line on several occasions, Josh Kirby and Kieran Sewell controlled the game well from acting half. Half-backs Mikey Lewis (Year 8) and Harry Whittles spread the ball around well finding strong runners in Jay Kirkland, Josh Lomax, Josh Atkinson, Tom Jordan and Joe Petty. Wingers Luke Moss and Joseph Coates looked dangerous with ball in hand, and Declan Jackson, Andrew Walker, Brett Dorley and Ryan Addinall again broke the line with ball in hand.

Try scorers for the Sirius team were: Elliott x3, Atkinson x2, Lewis x2, Petty x2, Lomax, Sewell, Whittles, Dorley. Goal kicks were added by Whittles x4, Lomax, Thorpe and Lewis.

Special thanks to Janice Hall for driving the mini-bus to take the boys down to the venue.

Please congratulate the following boys on their success, attitude and behaviour:

Josh Atkinson, Luke Moss (Year 8), Ryan Addinnall, Josh Lomax, Joseph Coates, Mikey Lewis (Year 8), Harry Whittles, Kai Thorpe, Kieran Sewell, Tom Jordan, Brad Elliott, Jay Kirkland, George Tyson-Wilson, Josh Kirby, Joe Petty, Declan Jackson (Year 8), Andrew Walker, Brett Dorley, Connor Cape-Melbourne.
