Blood Brothers
41 students visited Hull New Theatre on Thursday 27th February to enjoy the West End production of ‘Blood Brothers’. The students behaved impeccably and were a credit to the academy, although it did take some time to leave the theatre as many of them were moved to tears at the end!
The following day, several workshops based on the musical, took place in the academy and were led by West End professionals. Mike Southern (who played Sammy in London and is the co-founder of Stage-Ed) led the sessions and students benefited from his experienced direction, as well as that of Danielle Corlass (the current Linda in the tour) and Tim Whiting (musical director).
Students rated the learning experience as “outstanding and inspirational”. Throughout the day, students were engaged, focussed and were offered an insight into the Performing Arts industry that they had previously been unaware of. Without doubt, it was the best theatre workshop that we have experienced and students left the sessions highly motivated and enthused.
