Cricket success as team qualify for next stages!

[13 Jun 2014]

Yesterday saw three Academy Cricket teams represent us at the East Yorkshire Finals Day at Beverley Cricket Club. In the blazing sun and playing against renowned Crickting schools in Woldgate (Pocklington), Wolfreton (East Riding) and Howden (East Riding), our boys team put up great displays against these teams who all contained players who play club Cricket.

The under 13s girls team faced disappointment from the start as their Final opponents did not show, therefore the girls received a bye through to the full County Finals in York, which will be a tough competition.

The under 13s boys started their competition against Wolfreton and limited the opposition to 43 runs with Year 7 Ali Talal taking a wicket. In chase the boys did well and could have won the game by taking further chances when running but fell short by 5 runs with Dylan Hepworth top-scoring with 7 runs. Next up the boys faced Woldgate School and again bowled first with the opposition scoring 63 runs with Luke Moss taking an excellent catch and Mikey Lewis running a dangerous batter out with some great work at wicketkeeper. The boys batted well again with Luke Moss coming into his own scoring 14 runs as the team reached 38 in reply. The final match saw us face eventual winners Howden and after been set a target of 71 the boys made 34 in reply. The team qualify to the Humber Schools Games as Hull Cricket Champions.

The under 15s boys only faced two opponents in Wolfreton and Woldgate. The 1st match against Wolfreton saw 67 runs set after Salman Abid has taken 2 wickets and Callum Magee 1 wicket. With the bat Abid top-scored with 15 runs however Sirius feel short on 41 runs. The 2nd match was unfortunately cut short due to time restraints with the boys completing their bowling against Woldgate with Jordan Hance taking 2 wickets. The boys again qualify for the Humber Schools Games as Hull Cricket Champions.
