Year 11 begin Yorkshire Cup with victory!
The Sirius Academy Year 11 team produced an assured display to move into the Yorkshire Cup 2nd Round after a comfortable 48-0 victory over St Bedes (Bradford). The team maintained their discipline throughout the match, despite the best efforts of their opponents to unsettle the team, and they now look forward to a 2nd Round clash against St Wilfreds (Wakefield).
1st over for Sirius was Liam Harris after an excellent break from Calvin Parker, with Harris goaling for 6-0. A superb Kieran Jones pass found Connor Giddings who raced in out-wide, before captain Jamie Warcup crashed over from close range with Jones goaling for 16-0. Good work from Lewis Calvert created space for Jones to send Giddings over again, before Harris sent Brandon Hepworth away for a 26-0 half-time lead.
The 2nd half saw Kai Overton pop an excellent pass to Hepworth who raced away again, before Harris created a hat-trick try for Hepworth. The same combination created the next try with Hepworth sending Harris over for his 2nd try, before Liam Sigurddson ran in from 50 metres for a final score of 48-0.
Special thanks to Rachel Gay for her assistance with the team, and help in organisation.
Please congratulate the following boys on their attitude, performance and behaviour:
