Hotshots Athletics report
Sirius Academy took eight teams to compete in the prestigious Hull Schools Athletics Day at Costello Stadium and through some tremendous efforts recorded a school best performance. The success of the day included 49 Academy athletics records been broken, 11 students crowned individual event champions and 4 teams been crowned overall year group champions. The teams showed great attitude and effort on what was an extremely hot day and their successes are something to be very proud of.
Some of the highlights of the individual successes included; Will Beaumont breaking the Academy record on route to winning the Year 7, 1500m race and Isaac Green winning the Year 7 shot putt title. In Year 9 there was plenty of titles with Amy Jeffery winning the triple jump event, Carla Immanuel winning the javelin, Georgia Travagli winning the shot putt, Jordan Shakespeare winning the long jump and another Academy record saw Olivia Young win the 200m race. In the boys events Josh Jarvis broke Academy records on route to completing a double in the shot putt and 200m events. For the Year 10 age group, Callum Magee and Chris Brown both broke Academy records on route to winning the discus and shot putt events respectively.
Team successes also followed with wins in the 4 x 100m relay races for the Year 7 girls, Year 8 girls, Year 9 girls and the Year 10 boys, with all teams breaking Academy records.
With the points added up, it was announced that the Year 7, 8 and 9 girls teams as well as the Year 10 boys team had been crowned Hull team Athletics champions.
