Hull Schools U.15 Football League Play-Off Final
Sirius U.15 Football Team became’ City Champions’ by defeating Winifred Holtby 6-3 in the League Play-Off Final played at Holtby.
As ‘West’ League winners the boys remained unbeaten in all five games!
A fabulous game for the neutral but not for the manager as the game shifted in balance from one team to the other!
The game was a double-header meaning the winning team would also progress to the semi-finals of the Hull Schools U.15 Cup ( which we are holders and is to be played at the KC Stadium again!)
A difficult game for the boys not having played for a while on a tricky astro-turf pitch. The boys had to adapt to the surface and to the loss of their star striker in Harry Tyson.
However, the boys started well – but it was an end to end game with chances being created at both ends It was not until the end of the first-half that Kieren Jones stole into the box to end an excellent move and give us a 1 – 0 lead and a slender half-time advantage!
The second-half was crazy! Holtby hit back to make it 1-1. Then we scored 2 -1 (Liam Harris the scorer). Immediately after it was 2-2! Then 3-2 to us again (Kieren Easter). And then again 3 – 3.!
A nightmare – we had forgot to defend! What was happening? Only ten minutes left! I couldn’t cope with much more of this!
Eventually we took a hold of the situation and managed to take the lead again! This time to keep it and maintain possession better and build upon the lead. Further goals from Liam Harris, Kieren Jones and Tom Hance and some
crucial and unorthodox saves from Mike Wilson secured the win!
A special mention for LIam Harris who was outstanding throughout the game!
The boys had shown character and stuck to their tasks and were worthy winners!
(Can they make it to the KC again!?)
A special thanks to the ‘three supporters’ who came to watch the game in Miss Warcup, Miss Marshall and Calvin Parker.
Thanks also to Tom Mclaughlin for his support.
Please congratulate the boys on their excellent performance and achievements!
