Humber Orienteering Champions For Two Of Our Year 7 Boys!
Sirius Academy West was represented at the Humber Games Finals by the Year 9 and 10 Girls Rounder’s Teams and paired team representation in Years 7 and 8 Orienteering Teams and by a number of Leaders in Years 9 and 10.
All our team representatives had to qualify through the Hull Games first and by winning they represented Hull against NE.Linconshire ; East Riding and Lincolnshire.
All our representatives deserve a special mention but pride of place goes to Reece Shipley and Ashley Salisbury in becoming Humber Games Year 7 County Champions in Orienteering! A marvellous achievement!
Orienteering involves reading a map and following a course in the right order to find a number of markers. Reece and Ashley completed the course in an exceptionally fast time in ten minutes and thirty seven seconds! This was over two minutes faster than any other pairs. No mean achievement!
Reece and Ashley deserve special mention for their success with the former representing the academy in many activities and being a leading physical education student. However, I am particularly pleased for Ashley, as of late, he has made a great deal of improvement all-round on and off the field of play. Something for Ashley to build upon!
A good day was had by all and all our representatives did us proud.
A special thanks to Alex Sherwood in the organisation of the games.
