IIHF World Ice Hockey Championships
In April, a selected group of Y8 students were given the opportunity to watch the 2012 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championships at Hull Arena.
The students that attended to watch the fixture between Great Britain and the Netherlands were very enthusiastic and keen to discover the different rules, skills and tactics involved within Ice Hockey. Ice Hockey is renowned as one of the fastest, most explosive and aggressive sports in the world, and provided an excellent spectacle for the evening.
The PE Department feel very strongly that we should offer all our students an alternative curriculum within Physical Education and the opportunity to sample and embrace new and diverse sports. Handball, Table-Tennis, Volleyball, Darts and Golf have all made an excellent impact at the Academy in recent years, and proved very popular with lots of students.
