National Under 16 2nd Round Football – Sirius 2 Wolfreton 3

[08 Oct 2012]

The under 16’s were unfortunate in losing out in an exciting and closely fought contest where for much of the game they played the better football.

Sirius made a great start and took the lead in the opening minute through Kieran Easter.

Our advantage did not last long before Wolfreton were level and indeed took the lead in a ‘mad’ few minutes. Lapses of concentration defensively cost us dearly.

Playing much the better football Sirius equalised through Alex Douglas from a corner- a brilliant header!

We then endured a debateable offside refereeing decision in which a Wolfreton player was in an offside position in front of our goalkeeper and in front of his own player who eventually scored.

The 2-3 half-time score line remained the same throughout the second half with Sirius failing to break down a stubborn Wofreton defence.

The boys had put up a great display and were not overawed at any stage – the result went against us but the boys did the Academy proud!

Thanks to Dean Jennings for his support.
