Panathlon Report
On Tuesday 4th December we headed to St Mary’s college to take part in the annual panathlon games. Panathlon is a team competition where points are awarded for playing boccia, polybat, table cricket, new age kurling and a variety of track events including slalom and relay races.
The squad had several debutants (including Miss Johnson who was superb in her support for all the squad), along with more experIenced competitors. Hopefully the balance of youth and experience would pay dividends. As we boarded the bus there was a palpable sense of nerves and excitement!
Squad:
Logan Edson
Alex Diffin
Ben Dickinson
Lealah Cassidy
Bobby Giblin
Matthew Frankland
Callum Chater
Faith Flinton
Brendon Upfold
Charlie Harrison
Ola Weglarz
Sophie Norfolk
Joshua Asquith
All the students gave their all and there were some tremendous performances throughout the day and ended up claiming 5th position.
A special mention should be given to Calum Cater and Logan Edson who showed their leadership skills by offering tactical guidance and organisational skills by helping to direct their teammates to their events on time.
Well done to all involved on the day, they represented the Academy with pride and showed why they are as Mrs Watson named them the “Sirius Superstars”.
Finally, I would like to thank Mrs Watson, Miss Johnson and Mr Edson for their tremendous support with the event. It wouldn’t have been possible without them!
