Ron Worsdall Award – Hull Paragon Rotary
Mia Duke receiving a certificate and cheque for £50 from Salinder Supri, President of the Rotary Club of Hull Paragon on Friday 8th July. Mia, along with Josh Meehan, was one of four runners up in the Rotary Club’s annual Ron Worsdall Award scheme aimed at young people between the ages of 15 and 20 who show exceptional ability and promise in the Arts, Music or Sport. All local schools were invited to submit applications from exceptional students, who gave written reasons how the Award would benefit them and help them to further their ambitions – with each application also requiring a teacher’s written support. A panel of judges had the difficult job of selecting an overall winner and they were so impressed by the quality of all applications, they created four additional runner’s up awards of £50.
The Rotary Club commented “It was enlightening to read of all the applicants’ achievements and ambitions and it was a pleasure meeting Mia in person and presenting her with her Award and certificate. We wish Mia every success in the future with her sports, Josh Meehan with music and another worthy applicant, Adam Kelsey, with football”.
