Sirius compete in Off By Heart Shakespeare BBC competition

[06 Dec 2011]

On Tuesday 22nd November, Alex Douglas, Kieren Easter and Megan Hardy represented the Academy in the Leeds regional heats of the BBC’s ‘Off By Heart Shakespeare’ competition. The three students had to perform and recite one of the Bard’s famous monologues.

Over 1700 students took part in the competition nationally and our representatives wowed the judges, who praised their use of dramatic tension and understanding of the language. Alex, Kieren and Megan thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were able to take back to the Academy some exciting new performance methods that they had been shown.

It is the first year that the Academy has taken part in the competition, and although the students didn’t make it through to the finals we were all incredibly proud of how much they achieved and how wonderfully they embodied the Academy’s spirit.
