SIRIUS PERFORMS RICHARD III AT HULL TRUCK THEATRE
On Tuesday 11th October, 24 students from Sirius Academy performed ‘Richard III’ at Hull Truck Theatre, as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival. Preparation for the production began in June, when auditions took place and the students were selected to create the company. Over the summer holidays, the cast learnt their lines and got ready for an intense rehearsal schedule in September.
This was enhanced by a fantastic experience at the Cast Workshop, on 27th September, where students had the opportunity to work with professional actors and directors at the theatre, and improve their knowledge of Shakespeare’s work.
Despite taking part in the festival for the first year, the company of ‘Richard III’ wowed the audience on the night and delivered an outstanding and impressive performance. All students were a credit to the Academy, and enjoyed the Festival immensely. As a result, a new after school club will be arriving at the Academy shortly- ‘Siriusly Shakespeare’!
