SIRIUS SIXTH-FORM FOOTBALL TEAM UNITE FOR A VICTORY VRSUS HESSLE !
It had been a long wait for our boys, and difficult to bring together and establish a Sixth-Form Football Team- but well worthwhile!
Although only a friendly, the game versus Hessle was an important development in terms of bringing students together from different years to form
a team.
It was a great occasion. The Hessle team had been well established and included several ‘County’ players, so we knew we were up against a good
experienced side.
The boys rose to the occasion led by Liam Gordon (Captain) and defensively marshalled by Ryan Langton; James Fenton; Ben Bailey and Josh Milner.
In midfield were orchestrated by Kieren Jones; Dan Knight; Liam Sigurdsson; Jordan Welsh; Lee Bonner; Peter Decordova and Reece Morton who
gave the opposition little time to rest.
The forwards of Markus Craig ; Kieran Easter and Ryan Holden were too hot to handle, outpacing and proving too much for their opponents.
From the start Sirius hustled and bustled and were at Hessle throughout, giving them no chance to settle and dominating the game throughout.
A really committed performance which finally succumbed to Hessle giving away a penalty! Up stepped Markus Craig and directed his shot straight at the keeper!
Eventually the pressure paid off and the deadlock was broken through Kieren Jones. Further goals quickly followed through Markus Craig, Ryan Holden and Jones again.
A commanding lead with Hessle only replying late on in the game.
A rewarding victory not only from a football point of view but in a positive team display and well supported by students and staff alike-thanks to all.
A special thanks to Martin Smith with his support in assisting the team.
Can’t wait for the next game!
