Sirius Sports Stars 2020 – Y5 Tchoukball

[31 Jan 2020]

On Wednesday 29th January, Sirius Academy West hosted over 80 of the most talented sports performers from our local Primary Schools for the first of a series of talent camps. The initiative aims to identify and develop talented sports performers, increase their exposure to different sports and signpost them to further opportunities.

Linking with local clubs, highly-qualified external coaches and current Physical Education instructors, the scheme seeks to unite talented Year 5 pupils throughout the local area on a regular basis. It is hoped that the current skills the pupils possess can be transferred to a range of different sports.

The first event provided the chance for pupils to develop an understanding of the rules and tactics of Tchoukball. Working with Y12 Sirius Academy West leaders the pupils worked on basic passing, shooting and catching skills before competing in a series of games.

Congratulations to all those that attending and participated. Your attitude was outstanding and we were extremely impressed with your ability to pick up a new sport so quickly. Well done to Francis Askew B and Mr Wells the 2020 champions!

The pupils will continue to attend throughout the year for other events, including Gymnastics, Trampolining and Orienteering. The final session is based at Welton Waters in July for some fun in the sun!

Thank you to all the Primary Schools for their attendance and continued support.
