Sirius West Dragons Den Winners
Three students from Sirius West took part in media duties on BBC Radio Humberside’s ‘David Burns show’ in a live interview.
Simmone McDowall, Olivia Breuza and Chloe Barnes had been successful in RB’s ‘Design a product’ challenge. They fought off competition from many schools and progressed through to the final were they beat local rivals The Boulevard Academy and Sirius Academy North.
The product they had designed, marketed and financed was the novel ‘Airwick Laundry tea bag’ that keeps clean clothes fresh and hides the smells on dirty clothing. Dr Bruce Charlesworth, who is a global director at RB, was impressed with the girl’s scientific skills, enthusiasm and professionalism and assured them that RB will look in to developing their product! BBC presenter David Burns, although disappointed that the girls had not discovered a cure for baldness, was impressed with their dedication to the STEM subjects.
