Sirius Year 7s crowned best in West Hull!
The Sirius Academy Year 7 Rugby League team added to their growing reputation with another two clinical performances to secure top place in the West Hull League, and also qualify as top Hull seeds for the Carnegie Champion Schools Yorkshire Cup. The boys produced two performances of note against Kelvin Hall and Cottingham, adding another two victories to previous wins (See attached photo of boys celebrating victory).
The 1st match saw Sirius up against Cottingham High. A strong team performance with notable impacts from the strong running Kai Thorpe, lively Josh Kirby and the ever willing Lloyd Cass, saw the team out-class a game Cottingham team. Kirby was on hand to score the 1st two tries before captain George Tyson-Wilson scored a deserved try with chief-organiser Harry Whittles adding the goal. Up stepped the big Sirius forwards with Thorpe and Brad Elliot crossing with the try-poacher specialist Josh Atkinson adding another for a half-time lead of 24-0.
The 2nd half again started in the same fashion with Sirius beginning to show how they are coming together as a team, producing excellent tries through Joseph Coates, Tom Jordan and Atkinson again with Whittles (2) and Coates adding goals for a 42-0 victory.
The final match of the competition saw two unbeaten teams up against each-other in Sirius and Kelvin, with the winners been crowned Champions. Sirius defended strongly to begin with Tyson-Wilson, Callum Wilsher and Joe Petty leading the way. Kirby was first over to sneak a try before Elliot opened his legs to race the full length of the pitch to give Sirius an 8-0 lead. The 2nd half saw Atkinson sprint away and Thorpe crash over with one Whittles goal to leave Sirius 18-0 victors.
Sirius left the competition with impressive tallies of- 102 points scored and only 4 conceded!!
