Sirius Year 8s win in a 9 goal thriller…

[29 Jan 2014]

The opening round of the Hull Schools Cup started with a tricky home tie against an organised Archbishop side.

We started brightly with our front two of Lewis and Tarafdar causing their back four problems with some great movement and equally great efforts at goal which their goalkeeper was equal to, in turn keeping them in the game.

However the breakthrough came when the ever industrious midfield maestro Bostani sent a looping strike from the edge of the area over the keepers head. 1-1

A quick counter attack from Archbishop saw them draw level. 1-1.

Tarafdar who was on fire all evening went back up the other end and slotted calmly into the bottom corner, but once again Archbishop another counter attack saw Archbishop draw level again. 2-2.

Our hard work continued into the second half and only moments in we win a penalty which Tarafdar (cool as a cucumber) places in the bottom corner giving the keeper no chance. End to end now and the score line went from 3-2 to 4-4 with good attacking play from both sides, however our back four of Hackett, Richards, Chaffer and Worner stood firm.

With moments to spare the pace of our attacking players proved the difference and a high, looping cross went into the box with Tennison deservedly getting the decisive touch to win us the game 5-4.

Please congratulate all the boys involved in the game last night.

Special thanks to Andy Kay for his support with the team.
