Siriusly Inspired by Sheffield Institute of Sport Visit

20 prospective Sirius Academy 6xth Form students for September 2012 enjoyed a day trip to the English Institute of Sport Venue in Sheffield.
They were lucky enough to receive a behind the scenes tour, rubbing shoulders with Great British Olympic hopefuls from Boxing, Volleyball, and Table Tennis.
There were a number of highlights from the day with Jansin Turgat spotting Heptathlete Jessica Ennis and managing to get a quick picture and some advice on his hurdling technique.
Anthony Joshua, all 6ft 8 inches and 108kg of him, kindly broke away from his weights session to meet the group, answer questions and have pictures. Anthony spoke highly of his training mate, ex Pickering High School student Luke Campbell. We wish Anthony and his coaches the best of
The students and staff were overwhelmed by the World Class facilities they saw and were delighted to be allowed onto the championship standard Volleyball courts for a practical session.
To top off the day, Cottingham born Ben Pipes was in the building for the London 2012 Volleyball Squad announcement. He spotted some students in Hull FC shirts and kindly came over for a chat and some pictures. The students congratulated Ben for being announced as the Captain of the Men’s Team.
