Students Recognised Sporting Achievements – Hull Active Schools Annual Award Evening 2018
The Hull Active Schools Annual Award Evening was staged at the Mercure Hull, Grange Park Hotel last night.
Two-hundred and fifty people attended the inaugural awards evening which recognises the sporting achievements and endeavours of our students from across the city.
This year has seen unprecedented levels across all age groups with an increase in the range and diversity of the events on offer. Hull Active Schools has also seen numerous teams who have qualified from our competitions progress to achieve success at county, regional and national championships.
Three of our students were deservedly recognised in their own rights for their contributions to sport in different activities and roles.
Gael Nzayadio was awarded Key Stage 4 Sportsman of the Year for his success with Sirius Academy West and Humberside County Football Teams; Lauren McClean Key Stage 4 Sportswoman of the Year for her efforts in Athletics; and Jasmine Fielder for Key Stage 3 Sports Leader of the Year for her efforts in leading primary school children in sport.
Congratulations to all three students and well deserved recognition for their efforts.
Sport has the power to transform lives of young people. It can build various character traits such as resilience and determination, develop life skills such as teamwork and communication, boost their emotional well-being by improving self-confidence and change children into mature young adults by winning with grace and losing with dignity.
A pleasurable evening was had by all.
