Stunning debut by Saracen Clark can’t prevent Y7 defeat

[17 Oct 2014]

After the curse of the Year 7 team struck again, the boys had their 3rd coaching partnership of the season. DGO (knee) and ASH (ankle tendons) had previously succumbed to the curse and were replaced by Jarvis and Rust.

Chief Scout Basile recommended Nathan Firth and Saracen Clark to be fast tracked to the squad and Basile showed his worth after a man of the match performance by Clark. Strong tackling and a willingness to get forward to support the attack made his watching parents proud. Firth also made a good impact at right back when he came on, getting the ball down and passing it to teammates.
Kelvin took the lead after Lewis Wilson had made an outstanding penalty save but couldn’t prevent the rebound going in. New combinations in the team started to flourish with Harry Blackham and Charlie Shooter particularly strong down the left. However a breakaway goal just of halftime left the Sirius boys deflated.
With captain Lewis Bibby taking on  board advice from the coaches (and his Mum) Sirius started the half strongly but couldn’t find the finishing touch after great balls into the box by Blackham, Dalee and Shooter. After quickfire goals by Kelvin, goalkeeper Wilson pushed forward for a corner to get Sirius a deserved goal. This unfortunately allowed the Kelvin striker a clear run at goal to make the final score 5-0.

Please congratulate all the boys for showing terrific spirit and determination last night
