Table-Tennis – Further Success

[24 Jun 2012]

Three years ago the Academy’s table-tennis club linked with the Hull City Premier League 4 Sport initiative. Premier League 4 Sport is an innovative Premier League funded project to promote & develop opportunities for young people to get involved in community based olympic sports. There are hub sites in different schools in the area for Table-Tennis, Judo, Badminton and Volleyball.

Through the project, Danny (Y11) and Becky Taylor (Y9) both qualified for the National Fred Perry Urban Cup by defeating other students from the region. As a result they had the opportunity to represent the club in London last weekend and compete against finalists from other Premier League clubs in the country.

The students combined with two other students from the area to finish 3rd out of the 22 competing clubs.

Attached is a picture of both Danny and Becky alongside the Premier League trophy from the weekend.

Please congratulate the students on their effort and performance.

Both students will now compete individually on Tuesday, with Ari Sharif, James Garrod and Mitchell Levi-Lewis, in the Hull Schools’ Individual Table-Tennis Competition.
