The Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a fantastic opportunity for sixth form students and students from the Hearing Impaired Unit to learn new talents, develop team working skills, and to become a better citizen. Pete Littlewood, a co-ordinator from the Hull City Council visited Sirius Academy to give a talk on what the award offers. Pete says, “Universities and businesses always look favourably on students who have achieved this award, and it helps young people to stand out from the crowd in today’s competitive jobs market.”
There was a great deal of interest from students and the course will start to run from this September. Ryan, a Y12 student says, “One of the things you have to do is volunteer so I have managed to get a placement with Ganton School where I will be able to help out and help the community. I am looking forward to this opportunity.”
