#ThisWeekatSAW – 15th September 2023
Message from the Head of School:
Our first full week of 2023-2024 academic year was a great success. The students look incredibly smart and have started the year off well.
I had the pleasure of visiting some lessons last week and I was very impressed and proud of the student’s attitude to learning. Students are demonstrating a positive attitude and determination to succeed.
Our enrichment and extracurricular activities have started and we always encourage all children to participate. Please encourage your child to try something new and join a club or a team. Next week Mr Gordon will address the students in assembly to launch our Personal Development programme and Sirius Academy Pledges, again please encourage your child to complete as many as possible.
Attendance will always remain a high priority; all students should be attending all sessions every day unless there are authorised reasons. There is a direct link between attendance and outcomes, it’s important we are proving our students the best chances to succeed.
The academy has social platforms where news and celebrations of success are shared including the progress of our sports teams. Please check our Twitter and Facebook as well as our academy website to remain up to date on all events.

MyEd app
This issue is still ongoing. We have made some progress this week and teachers should be showing on timetables on the MyEd app and we are continuing to work to resolve the issues.
Homework
The first homework detentions will be set this week. The homework platforms are SPARX for Maths and SENECA for all other core subjects. Homework tasks are set to a manageable amount and will be checked weekly.
