U13 Girls through to round 3 of National Cup
Last night saw the new U13 girls football squad take on Wolfreton in their first game of the season in 2nd round of the National Cup.
The team has grown in numbers with lots of new year 7 girls keen to impress and get involved in girls football which is fantastic to see!
The girls started well and looked clearly the better side with Danielle Waters putting Sirius 1-0 up after only 5 minutes. Following the Sirius goal Wolfreton found their shape and managed to close the Sirius girls down well, with their number 9 running play forward and attacking the Sirius goal, bringing the score line to 1-1.
Despite this the Sirius girls battled well with Libby Hinsen, Kalisha Quantock, Beth Dixon and Maja Bajek showing excellent skill and confidence in their first performance for Sirius Academy. Minutes from the end another new comer, Levi Lewis, sent the ball soaring into the top right corner, further improving the score line in Sirius’ favour.
Rachel Fox (Y7), new found goal keeper for the U13’s, also put in a fantastic performance, making some crucial saves throughout the game to keep Sirius on top.
The clear stand out player of the game though was Holly Dodsworth (Y8) who dominated the game, won every tackle and created every Sirius goal. A truly ‘outstanding’ individual performance.
Goal scorers for the game included; Danielle Waters (x2), Maddison (x1), Levi Lewis (x1)
Squad: Holly Dodsworth ©, Danielle Waters, Sam Thomlinson, Terris Sainty, Sophie Murray, Naimh, Madison, Alisha Pearson, Maja Bajek, Beth Dixon, Olivia Langley, Kalisha Quantock, Ebony Johnson, Levi Lewis, Rachel Fox (k), Libby Hinson
(Please could tutors put a positive behaviour event for enrichment in for these students please)
