U13s Girls Football Team sail through to next round of the Cup
The very talented U13’s girls football team travelled to Toll Bar Academy for their first round of the cup, and they showed their quality in a 12 – 0 victory over the home team.
Sirius started the game well and looked in control from the start, and it wasn’t long before Ellie Cone opened the scoring. Sirius passed the ball well and played well as a team, looking strong all over the park. Ellie Smirk on the right was causing Toll bar all sorts of problems, and her superb cross resulted in Danielle Waters tapping home, Danielle scored her second, when a precision ball from Molly Bigby found Cone, who played in her strike partner who calmly slotted the ball past the keeper. Cone scored her second when she was first to react to a poor kick out f0rom the GK and blasted home into the corner. Kayleigh Waller was next to score a couple of goals, the first was a real individual effort, going round more than four players and firing the ball into the net, her second was the pick of the game, some great team play resulted in another precision cross from Smirk and was met at the back post by Waller who volleyed home with her left foot. Sirius continued to dominate, Toll bar threw everything at us to try and get a goal back, but the back three of Mia Duke, Molly Bigby and Emily Andrew stood strong, ensuring that Ameera Jessop didn’t have to make one save in goal. The goals continued to fly in from Sirius, Waters was quick to react when Cone hit the cross bar from her long range effort and poked the ball into the net. Rio Cambell was working hard on the left, and Holly Dodsworth was dominating the midfield. Another individual goal from Waller was next up as she ran through from her own half and struck home. Smirk got her well-deserved goal after some great combination play from the strikers to feed her on the right, Waters rounded off the first half scoring to put Sirius into double figures, again she was on the end of a Smirk cross.
The home team and referee approached us about finishing the game if it got to 12, so the second half was short lived as two quick goals were scored. Cone rounded off her hatrick and Mia Duke got on the scoresheet on her first time on the attack from the defence position. Sophie Murray, found herself see a lot of the ball in the second half, and Candice Welburn enjoyed her new role sat in front of the back three, breaking up any potential attacking threats from the home side.
Please congratulate the girls on their success, behaviour and attitude.
