U14 Girls come 3rd in Hull Schools 5-a-side Football Competition

The U14’s girls 5-a-side football team did themselves proud tonight as they finished third overall in the Hull School Competition.
Sirius Academy were drawn in a league against Winifred Holtby, Andrew Marvell and Boulevard Academy.
Winifred Holtby 1 Sirius Academy 1
Winifred Holtby took an early lead with a well take goals within the first minute of the game, but Sirius Academy fought back well and started to dominate the game in the later stages, with Sam Tomlinson getting a well deserved equiliser with a fine finish from a difficult angle. Winifred Holtby created a few late chances but Georgina Robertson defended well and Rachel Fox pulled off a string of fine saves to keep the scoreline level.
Andrew Marvell 2 Sirius Academy 2
Again, Sirius started the game slowly and Andrew Marvell capitilised on this with an early goal. Sirius replied back not long after with another superb strike from Sam Tomlinson which was unstoppable. Andrew Marvell was playing well as a team but Beth Dixon in the middle for Sirius was breaking down their play well to create a few chances on goal, which went narrowly wide. Andrew Marvell regained the lead, but Sirius responded well just before the final whistle as Maja Bajek was first to react and slot the ball home for another draw.
Boulevard Academy 2 Sirius Academy 5
Sirius got off to a flying start in this game, with Maja Bajek scoring a hat-trick within the first five minutes. Credit to Boulevard, they continued to work hard and managed to pull a goal back. Beth Dixon extended the Sirius lead with her first goal for the Academy before Maja Bajek went on to get her fourth goal of the game, but Boulevard had the last word after a fine late strike to make the scoreline 5 – 2.
Sirius Academy finished on the same points as Winifred Holtby in the league table, but Winifred had a better goal difference, by one, so they finished top of the group, with Sirius finishing in second place, meaning they would take on Archbishop Sentamu in the semi final.
Archbishop Sentamu 4 Sirius Academy 0
Archbishop Sentamu were a very strong team and managed to score four goals without reply in the semi final match. But Sirius Academy gave it their all and should be very proud of finishing 3rd overall in the Hull Schools Tournament.
Please congratulate the squad on their success and attitude throughout the competition.
