U15 Girls Football team through to semi finals
The U15 girls travelled to Malet Lambert in which was looking to be a tough draw in the Hull Schools Cup, especially without influential players Holly Dodsworth and Beth Dixon, but the girls put out an outstanding team performance to go through to the semi-finals in style with a comfortable 5 – 1 victory.
Sirius Academy started the game at a high tempo and created numerous chances in front of goal, but the Malet Lambert keeper was in fine form with a string of superb saves to keep the score at 0 – 0. The defence of Chloe Dunn, Tegan Whitney and Georgina Robertson stood strong to ensure that Malet Lambert didn’t catch them out on the counter attack as Sirius pushed players forward looking for the opening goal. Sam Tomlinson was enjoying her role in front of the back three and breaking down the play well with some brave headers and challenges. On the twenty minute mark the deadlock was finally broken when a great ball from the hard working Katie Clark found Mia Husband on the back post to fire home. The lead was doubled shortly after as Mia Husband managed to outpace the defence and score her second before the halftime break.
The second half started with Sirius back on the attack, from a resulting corner Danny Waters lofted in a teasing ball which found Sophie Murray on the back post to finish with an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net. Holly Bigadyke was looking dangerous on the wing and could have extended the lead even further but saw her shot well saved. Malet Lambert kept working hard and produced some fine saves from Rachel Fox in goal as they looked to get a goal back of their own, and after a scramble in the Sirius Academy box they managed to fire home from close range. Any thoughts of a comeback was soon dismissed as some great midfield play from Kalisha Quantock and Alisha Pearson found the impressive Danny Waters who played a smart through ball to Sophie Murray who calmly slotted the ball past the oncoming keeper. Danny Waters rounded off a skilful and energetic performance when she took on four of the Malet players and fired home into the bottom corner to make the scoreline 5 – 1 to Sirius Academy in an outstanding team performance.
Please congratulate the girls on their attitude, behaviour and performance:-
