Winners-U13 Rugby Union Success!!
This afternoon the year 7 and 8 rugby union team travelled to Driffield to take part in the East Yorkshire competition to play against other schools in the area. The girls were without some key players due to injury but were determined to make it through to the regional finals next week to give them a chance to play at Twickenham. The girls had a tough group where they played 4 matches to secure their place next week in Weatherby,
Game 1: Sirius 4 Lady Lumleys 1
Game 2: Sirius 6 Howden 3
Game 3: Sirius 5 Cottingham 5
Game 4: Sirius 7 St. Augustines 2
All 8 girls played extremely well, they worked together as a team and put in some strong tackles as well as making some amazing runs. The last game against St. Augustines saw the girls down to 6 players due to injury however the girls dug deep as they knew if they were to make the final they needed to score as many tries as they could due to a draw with Cottingham.
Please congratulate the girls if you see them around the academy. They have now qualified with Sirius North to make the Regional Yorkshire finals to compete for a place in the Twickenham finals.
