Y10/11 GIRLS COMPETE IN HULL SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT

[13 Nov 2012]

Last night the year 10 and 11 female footballers in school took on all schools from around Hull in the Hull Schools 5-a-side Football Tournament at the Bonus Arena. The Girls made an excellent start with positive attitudes all round!

The 1st game started against Thomas Ferrens who the girls ran around all over the pitch and victoriously won to 2-1 with a stunning goal from Natasha Wood from the half way line! This was closely followed by a tough match against St Mary’s who the girls managed to keep a clean sheet to and drew at 0-0. Unfortunately the girls conceded 4 goals in the following 2 matches against Newlands and Archbishop with a score line of 1-0 and 3-1 respectively. Despite this the girls showed grit and determination to work hard and not give goals away easily. Paris representing the year 10’s worked tirelessly throughout the games and showed a great partnership up front with Lauren Genter. The Captain (Chelsea Baynes) demonstrated an excellent performance throughout, keeping team moral high and presenting each team with a Sirius Academy pendent before kicking off each match (seen in picture attached).

Special mentions to Charlotte Marsham. 1st time ever playing in goal – an excellent performance.
Natasha Wood. 100% attendance to training this year and a brick wall or strength at the back in defence.

All in all a fantastic evening of female football with a group of girls who worked so hard to represent the Academy on the local stage. An excellent performance from all concerned finishing in 6th place.

Please congratulate the girls. Team: Chelsea Baynes (Captain), Lauren Genter, Paris Turpin, Charlotte Marsham, Leah Jackson, Natasha Wood, Rebecca Greenley, Megan Kay.
