Y6 – Maths and English G&T Sessions

On Tuesday the Academy played host to nearly 100 pupils from our local Primary Schools as they took part in our Y6 deeper learning Maths and English event! Pupils worked together in mixed teams, building their Maths and English skills, and learning to work in teams to agree and confer on their final answers.

 

Maths was first up and had the pupils thinking amount simultaneous equations and rounding up before lunch with a few rounds of Countdown. After lunch, the pupils were challenged in their ability to explore the connotation and denotations of words and completed the day with an extended piece of creative writing.

 

There were lots of spot prizes up for grabs and the overall winners of both sessions went home with board games. Well done to all involved!

 

All pupils had a fabulous day working alongside current Y10 students who led individual tables throughout the event.
