Y9 Football – Match Report *Fulford 0 – SAW 3*
Fulford 0 – SAW 3
After a dramatic penalty shootout win in the last round at Wolfreton, the Year 9 boys faced the challenge of travelling to the unknown, to Fulford School in York.
Missing hat-trick hero from the last round, Theo Mainprize, we were forced into a number of changes. However, the outcome of the game was never in doubt as SAW raced into a three goal lead within the first 30mins.
Excellent anticipation from Alfie Welton, and a pinpoint pass, released Liam Triffitt who finished emphatically from the angle.
A lofted corner from Lucas Forlow was met with a Harry Maguire-esque header from captain Alfie Maskell to double the advantage.
Typical endeavour from Charlie Birdsall, won the ball back in midfield, and supplied Triffitt with the chance to score his second and increase the lead.
Despite facing increased pressure in the second-half, Jake Jones-Williams was rarely threatened in goal. The uncompromising partnership of Kai Clark and Jay Dawson in defence provided additional security.
The boys will now face Minsthorpe Community College from Wakefield in the next round.
Please congratulate the boys if you see them. Thank you to Mr Lightfoot and Mr Rodgers for their continued support too.
