Year 10 Boys Rugby Success in the Yorkshire Plate
Sirius Academy West 20 Brigshaw 16
The Sirius Academy West Year 10 Boys have made it through to the next round of the Yorkshire Plate after a very close game against Brigshaw which had to go into extra time to get the winner.
Brigshaw got over for an early try as a grubber kick into the in goal wasn’t dealt with. Sirius Academy West replied immediately with a well worked try from the scrum by Ali Alsheriffe, the conversion from the corner went over by Lewis Wilson to put Sirius in the lead by 6 – 4. Brigshaw went over just before the halftime break to make it 6 – 10 in their favour.
The second half was an evenly matched affair and the next try could be crucial, and it was Sirius West that went crashing over after a great run by Ali Hussain who powered over to make the scores level at 10 – 10. Brigshaw thought they had won the game as they took the lead with only 4 minutes remaining, but Sirius were not going to throw the towel in and the determination from Connor Foster saw him go over, Lewis Wilson kicked the conversion to take it into extra time at 16 – 16.
In the second half of extra time it was quick thinking from Sam Macauley from acting half back as he scooted over in the corner to seal the victory for Sirius Academy West.
