Year 10 Boys Rugby Union Champions

The Year 10 Boys played in their first Rugby Union tournament of the year and managed to finish top of their league and win the competition across at Ilkley RUFC.
Outwood 3 Sirius Academy West 1
Sirius came up against one of the best teams in the tournament in their first game. Outwood were fast around the ruck which caused the Sirius boys problems as they were coming to terms with the union rules rather than using their league skills that they are more familiar with. A quick try from Outwood put them on the front foot but Sirius responded well with a try from winger Kai Shaw after he pounced on a precision kick from Kieran Welburn. Outwood utilised their Union knowledge and went over for two more tries in the later stages of the game.
Sirius Academy West 3 Settle 2
Sirius were feeling more confident with the rules and a game plan to put in place in their next game to utilise their strengths, and it worked well, as on the first play Kai Shaw went in again at the corner after the Sirius side created the overlap out wide. Settle got one back, but Sirius were looking good, and the talented Harry Norton showed his strength and speed as he went over for two tries in quick succession to make it 3 – 1. Settle went over for a late consolation try, but Sirius celebrated their first win.
Sirius Academy 4 South Craven 1
The game didnt start well for Sirius as they let South Craven barge over to take the lead, but from then on in it was all Sirius as they scored four tried without reply. Ronaldas Sokolovas moved to the hooker position and was making some good choices from the ruck as he sent away Keiran Welburn for two tries and Harry North for two.
Sirius Academy 3 North Halifax 2
With other results going their way, Sirius knew that if they beat North Halifax then the would win the competition. Sirius started well as debutante Dom Smith was sent away in the corner. North Halifax equalised, but Sirius battled hard to get the win as Kieran Welburn sealed the victory with a fine solo try for Sirius Academy West to be crowned the Rugby Union Champions of this very competitive tournament.
Please congratulate the boys on their success, there were many boys in the squad that were new to rugby and they did themselves proud! This will be their last tournament as Year 10s but I am sure this talented group of players will be winning some silverware as Year 11s:-
