Year 10 Football boys win in Hull Schools Cup!
The Year 10 Football team reached the 2nd round of the Hull Schools Cup with a 5-3 victory over a game Archbishop Sentamu team. The team never really got going as they did enough to win the match comfortably but know they must raise their game if they are to progress to the later rounds. Up next for the team is a Quarter-Final match v Andrew Marvell.
The match saw Sirius dominate possession and territory but never regularly open up the Sentamu defence. Captain Luke Salas probed constantly with Callum Magee providing the energy to push Sirius attacks forward and battle for possession when needed. Kenan Stephenson belted home the first with a great finish before Salas played Chris Brown through who finished well to add to his excellent tally for the season. Brown finished again for 3-0 and Sirius were cruising.
The 2nd half saw Sirius again start well in keeping possession which saw Brown lash home his hat-trick goal before Sentamu pulled one back for 4-1. Ewan Malton then laid on a goal for Connah Oliver for 5-1 before Sirius switched off and conceded two late goals for 5-3.
Please congratulate the following boys on their success, attitude and behaviour:
Charlie Jackson, Jordan Wardell, Robbie Hird, Brandon Leigh, Luke Collingwood, Joseph Wood, Luke Salas, Callum Magee, Olly Russell, Kenan Stephenson, Chris Brown, Ewan Malton, Connah Oliver, Will Murphy.
Special thanks to Martin Smith for his help with coaching the team. Also to Jack West, Cosi Basile, Mike Hewitt, Ian Ravenscroft and David Gordon for their support for the team.
