Year 10 Football lose out in National Cup!
The Year 10 Football team found a step up in the class of the opposition too much to handle in the ESFA National Cup 3rd Round match against Wolfreton. The opposition whose team consisted of Professional teams Academy players as well as some very good individual players, proved difficult to contain despite the best efforts of our boys. The team can hold their heads high after their two excellent victories in the competition and now look forward to the Humberside Schools Cup, Hull Schools Cup and the 5 a-side competition.
The match started with two quick Wolfreton goals converted by the dangerous centre-forward who proved hard to handle all evening. Credit to the Sirius boys who struck back with Kenan Stephenson sending the ball home for 2-1. On the stroke of half-time Wolfreton capitalised on a mistake to take a 3-1 lead into half-time.
The 2nd half began with Sirius again on the back foot, and another two quick goals put Sirius 5-1 down with 30 minutes still to play. Sirius then had their best 10 minute spell with several chances going wide before Luke Salas sent Chris Brown through to pull back to 5-2. Wolfreton regained possession and added 3 late goals for a 8-2 score-line.
Special thanks to Martin Smith and David Gordon for supporting with the team and to Jack West and Adam Rust for their support.
