Year 10 Football Progress – Feb 2017

[02 Feb 2017]

The year 10 boys with a couple of new faces enjoyed an excellent cup night against a good Malet Lambert side.

The middle 3 of Ryan, Gael and Jack set the tempo of the game with their lovely intricate passing. Using the width of the addition of Bradley Walker who proved to be a bit of a bargain in this recent transfer window on a free transfer! He worked excellently linking up with Bayer and Baillie down the left hand side.

It was this tempo and passing Malet could not handle when pulling Gael over resulting in a free kick around 30 yards away…. Up steps Tanser in a David Luiz style whip to knuckle the ball over the wall and past the goalkeeper. 1-0 Sirius. Tanser then produced some lovely footwork breezing past 4 month which I could only explain would be reminiscent of a young C.Basile! After beating 4 men he then calmly slotted past the keeper.

Did Sirius get too complacent?! …. Simply yes! The boys switched off and let Malet play the ball down the wing in which they crossed in and we conceded to make it 2-1. The boys rallied themselves together went straight back at the Malet defence and Gael hammered a thunderstrike home to make it 3-1.

Half time.

With some inspiring words in a mike basset like half time team talk from Mr. Bayston the boys were raring to go!

Excellent full back play from Mervete and Jake Beaumont meant the middle 3 could use the ball and with some great passing Steven lofted a beautiful ball where Bayer headed masterfully down in to the ground and made it 4-1.

Tom stabler and Steven Willits were excellent and set a concrete platform from the back all game.

Sirius won a corner which Tom was feeling inspired to score and he ran like a gazelle…rose like a salmon and boom! Headed Sirius 5-1 up! Fantastic.

The game drawing in to its final minutes saw the boys pushing and showing an excellent desire to keep attacking saw Steven rewarded with his excellent performance to slot home a ball from Baillie.
