Year 10 Football team into Hull Schools Semi-Final!

[27 Mar 2014]

The Year 10 Football team moved into the Hull Schools Cup Semi-Final after their 3-0 victory over Andrew Marvell. The team played the elements very well, defending well to take a 0-0 score into half-time despite playing into the wind and rain, and the 2nd half saw us score three well taken goals. The semi-final opponents will be Winifred Holtby.

The first half was a battle to defend with the back 4 who were outstanding all match in Robbie Hird, Luke Collingwood, Brandon Leigh and Jordan Wardell, proving up the task of holding strong. With the ball Sirius created some chances with the goalkeeper stopping a Luke Salas long range drive and thwarting Chris Brown with a smart stop.

The 2nd half saw Sirius create more space for Salas in the middle with Joseph Wood and Callum Magee working hard to release the ball into good positions. Kenan Stephenson and Will Murphy were having success wide out but it was a Salas free-kick which gave Sirius a 1-0 lead. Stephenson was denied by another excellent save before Salas lost his man and fired home for 2-0. On the stroke of the full-time whistle Salas grabbed his deserved hat-trick, dribbling through the Marvell defence for the 3-0 win.

Please congratulate the following boys on their success, attitude and behaviour:

Kieran Bartlett, Jordan Wardell, Robbie Hird, Brandon Leigh, Luke Collingwood, Joseph Wood, Luke Salas, Callum Magee, Olly Russell, Kenan Stephenson, Chris Brown, Ewan Malton, Lukas Mikoliunas, Will Murphy.

Special thanks to Martin Smith for his help coaching the team and to Jack West and Cosi Basile for their support.
