Year 10 Football team reach Hull Schools Cup Final!

[30 Apr 2014]

The Year 10 Football team continued their successful year as they reached their 1st ever Hull Schools Cup Final with a resounding 9-1 win over Winifred Holtby. The boys produced a committed display to overcome their opponents, and now look forward to a match with arch-rivals St Marys or Malet Lambert.

Sirius started the match on the front foot and after creating several half opportunities, it was a Holtby own-goal off a Jordan Littlefair header that gave the team a 1-0 lead. Chris Brown quickly added a 2nd goal before Joseph Wood fired a low shot into the bottom corner for 3-0. Luke Salas created a goal for the excellent Callum Magee who sprinted 70 metres to run into space before slotting home, followed by Lochlan Fitzgerald who headed home from another corner for 5-0. Salas grabbed the final goal of the half, firing into the top corner for 6-0.

Holtby battled well in the 2nd half and scored 1st for 6-1, before Will Murphy scored an opportunist goal, quickly followed by Lukas Mikoliunas and Olly Russell to complete the scoring.

Special thanks to Martin Smith for his help with coaching the team and to Jon White, Jack Best, Cosi Basile and Colin Brooks for their support.

Please congratulate the following boys on their success, attitude and behaviour:
